e cooks: like a michelin starred chef

04 February 2014

Quite the modest title, right? I just didn't know how else to put it!

For his birthday celebrations, E cooked the most epic meal that had him slaving away in the kitchen, on and off for days.

He really wanted to cook something elaborate that he doesn't often have time for, and to treat our friends to something special.

Drumroll, please...

Ravioli of lobster, langoustine and salmon with a lemongrass and chervil velouté

Gratin Dauphinois

Beef Wellington with parma ham, foie gras and mushroom paste

Let's just say that the meal had a wow factor. I didn't help with the cooking at all, just the odd bit of washing up and a bit of potato slicing with the mandolin - he also did a side of caramelised carrots with garlic and tarragon which were delicious. We were all thoroughly impressed, and thoroughly stuffed!

He did let us take over for dessert, requesting his two favourite - the best tiramisu ever made by C, and the secret recipe brownies that I was given from his childhood friend's family.

We had a wonderful evening - hilarious conversations, Telestrations fun and lots and lots of laughter.
