paris :: miznon

So, back to Paris. You may be surprised to know this, but you will find one of the best kebabs you have ever eaten in Paris, of all places. Let me elaborate.

Knowing that we had time for a casual lunch, and wanting to find somewhere good, not too pricey and central, Matt & Ella came to the rescue. When they sang their unanimous praises of Miznon, I looked it up, read rave reviews and was immediately sold.  I convinced E that this was a good idea (understandably, he was a little apprehensive - "why kebabs when there's so much cheese and wine to be had?"), but he thanked me later.

Miznon is an assuming looking, hole-in-the-wall Israeli restaurant, which is actually a little bigger than it initially looks, with an extra room at the back. You order at the counter, give your name, and they bring your dishes to you as they're ready.

Whilst we waited, we helped ourselves to the complimentary, fluffy pita and dips, which were amazing - I could have had that for lunch alone, they were so good. It's very generous for them to give you unlimited access to these nibbles, in my opinion.

But for the main event, I chose the lamb kebab while E went for the boeuf bourguignon (I know, sounds like a strange filling but it works!), and we shared the green beans & whole head of grilled cauliflower to share. I'm honestly getting hungry, just writing about this.

The kebabs were absolutely fantastic - so flavourful, fresh, and didn't leave you with that heavy feeling those "junky" ones do. Stuffed with veggies, it almost felt healthy! Kind of. Speaking of the vegetables, the green beans were phenomenal. Again, I could have this for lunch on its own - so addictive, perfectly seasoned and flavoured with garlic. Perfect. As for the cauliflower, we simply dug in with our forks and fell in love with the simplicity of it - it was seasoned and grilled, that's it. And yet it was the most memorable cauliflower to date.

We really loved the feel of this place - the staff were friendly, the vibe was laid back and relaxed, and we had such a great lunch. I highly, highly recommend Miznon for anyone visiting Paris - you won't be disappointed.
