It's clearly no secret that I love a good pizza. From what I claim to be the best pizza I've ever tried in Lake Como, a surprising find in Vienna, a truly Italian experience in Wimbledon, to the very popular Franco Manca, I've shared my thoughts on quite a few. And I'm still yet to blog about my local Santa Maria which is revered by many Italians! 

But today, it's all about Pizza Pilgrims. 

When Alexandra told me that she thought PP was better than Franco Manca, I knew I had to try it and see if she was right. E and I both love FM - their sourdough base is delicious, and their prices are pretty unbeatable at under £7 a pizza.

So off I went to the Pizza Pilgrims in Kingly Court, with a lovely school friend who's been living abroad for 10 years and is now back in London - no better excuse to go out for a pizza in my opinion! 

It was an early dinner, at around 6pm, but it was already pretty full and we sat outside (although it's a covered/closed off area inside the courtyard so not too cold, thankfully), and our pizzas of choice arrived in no time.

T went for the Nduja (Margherita with spicy Calabrian spicy sausage) and I, of course, went for the white pizza - Salsiccia e Fiarielli (White pizza with fresh fennel sausage, chilli, wild broccoli, fior di latte, parmesan, basil, olive oil). I find it mildly amusing that my favourite kind of pizza gets rids of the only healthy part... but I digress.

So, what's my verdict? It actually is better than Franco Manca. I can't put my finger on it exactly, but I think their base is even doughier and dreamier, and I just found the whole thing a little more flavourful. However, it is significantly more expensive (the white pizza at PP is £10, at FM it's £6.85), which I think kind of even things out a little bit. 

Regardless of my subjective views, you really can't go wrong if you go to either place for that Neapolitan sourdough goodness. I just think Pizza Pilgrims is just a little nudge above the rest.
