the happy list :: november 2014

02 December 2014

All photos from my Instagram!

Read: The View on the Way Down by Rebecca Wait. My friend (I met her when I lived in Salzburg, she's Japanese and has learnt German, as well as enough English to be able to read novels - how's that for amazing?!) recommended it to me, and it was a very good read. It tells a story of a family that is dealing with grief, as well as the complications behind it - I don't want to give too much away, but I thought it was touching and heartwarming.

Watched: I had a couple of days lying in bed with a cold while I was away, and started to watch How To Get Away With Murder out of curiosity. Of course, I caught up on all the episodes (it's fairly new so there are only 9 or 10 so far). It's right up my street - a bit of crime and mystery, romance, drama and scandal. I'm not that hard to please.

Ate: The spectacular meal that was l'Atelier de Joel Robuchon. I did also get to eat at another great restaurant as a birthday treat, that I'll talk about in a few days...

Clicked: Although I have been very busy this month and have a lot of blog reading to catch up on, a new discovery has been Miranda's Notebook. Firstly, I am in love with her header! It's gorgeous, as is she. A fellow London blogger, she takes beautiful photos, posts recipes, shares snapshots of the city and her adventures. Go and have a look for yourself!

Purchased: Photography Concentrate, an extensive guide to master your camera, recommended by this blog (she takes amazing photos so I trusted this!). I'm not sure if the sale is still on, but the Black Friday sale meant I snapped it up with a huge discount, and I can't wait to put it to good use to conquer my resolution

Listened: Serial. Serial. Serial. I have a problem, I cannot shut up about it. But with good reason - it is so good. I pushed it onto E and my sister, both of whom are now hooked and are very grateful to me for being annoyingly pushy about it (or so I hope...). Tamsin, Lu, Lisa (<- all amazing blogs FYI!) and I were having an intense twitter conversation about how addictive it is, so I know I'm not alone. In fact, half the world is listening to it, so if you're not, just do it. And then talk to me because otherwise I might have no friends left.

Wore: I had a major splurge moment when All Saints were having a 20% off sale early November and bought this cardigan. It is probably the most expensive item in my wardrobe aside from formal wear, but I'm happy to report that it was worth every penny (sigh of relief). I tell myself that it's a 2 in 1 deal, as you can wear it as a cardigan as well as a cowl neck... so really, it was a bargain! Kind of. In any case, I have already worn the heck out of it and am in love.

Visited: A little town in Italy called Gorizia. It wasn't a holiday, but half of my trip was very stressful and half was very relaxing (though with a very red nose and lots of tissues around me).

Blogged: My favourite post of the month is the day in Vienna with my sister. Such a beautiful city, such good sister times! She is in fact visiting London right now, which is the best start to December.

Celebrated: My 27th birthday

Cooked: This is completely cheating as I didn't even need to "cook" them, but these peanut butter & chocolate granola bars.

Thanks so much for reading!

  6. Hehehe! The Serial obsession continues. And there's a new episode out! Aaah, goodbye social life. Oh, and I have a favourites post in the works and the bit about Serial is pretty much word for word what you've written up there. <3 Big thumbs up to the All Saints purchase on a non-podcast note - that cardigan is so classic, elegant and it'll go with everything! And I'll bet you'll get a good few years' wear out of it :) xx

  7. I've been wanting to watch How To Get Away With Murder too, but I keep getting sucked back into shows I already know and love (like Grey's Anatomy...I just restarted it ahh). And Serial sounds really good, I have a long drive today so maybe I'll give it a try ;]
