señor ceviche

16 January 2015

Blogs are a funny thing; whether they reveal a lot or a little about a person's personal life, the author's character, interests and general demeanour somehow shows through. Because of this, I just knew that Tamsin from A Certain Adventure and I would hit it off if we ever had the chance to meet, after reading her blog for a while. Well back in December, we finally did it! Went on a blogging blind date, so to speak. Except in a strange way, it didn't feel like we were meeting for the first time, knowing such random details about each other's lives.

Obviously the occasion had to involve some good food, so we headed to Señor Ceviche to see what all the fuss was about. Located in Kingly Court, it's casual and slightly wacky, as shown with all the wall art. We went around 6pm and got seats right away, but I hear that it can get very busy at peak times.

We started with a couple of cocktails - they are £5 before 7pm usually, which is a decent deal! I got the classic Pisco Sour and it was just the kind of drink I like - refreshing and not too sweet.

We were both really quite impressed with the food - we ordered a few dishes to share and every single one was delicious, especially the flat iron beef skewers which are a must if you go there. The ceviche dishes were flavourful, fresh and light, and I really couldn't fault anything.

The dishes we ordered:
Senõr Ceviche (sea bream ceviche)
The Spaniard (sea bream & king prawn ceviche)
Flat Iron Anticucho (beef skewers)
Pachamanca Pork Rib (pork belly rib)
Jalea Mixto (tempura squid, prawns & market fish)

Of course, after all that food we were still not done chattering away, so we headed elsewhere for dessert.. more on that soon.

If you're not yet a reader of Tamsin's blog, you're missing out. And you have my word that she is as lovely, interesting and fun as she seems!

Peruvian food, I do love you a little bit. Any suggestions on where to go next for a similar feast?

  5. Yay! Love this place - my sister and her boyfriend later went there for a date on my recommendation ;) You're so right, it was strange knowing bits and bobs about your life and tastes that I wouldn't ever have known about another new friend - kind of like I was your stalker! And on that happy note...can't wait for our next blogger date! xx

  7. This looks so so yummy! And so different from the ceviche I had in Mexico haha. It's so cool how international food is interpreted in different parts of the world. Also I'm so envious of you meeting bloggers in real life...I have yet to do that! It is a funny thing to think about, that it's not really a blind date because we already know so many little details about one another haha.
