Crêpeaffaire

07 July 2013

Who doesn't love a good crêpe? I don't have a particularly sweet tooth, so although I do love a crêpe slathered with Nutella, I actually love savoury ones even more.

E and I were headed to our friends' house to watch the Wimbledon final (we were equal parts relieved and overjoyed that Murray rose to the occasion!), and although we were sadly not inside the actual grounds, we were actually in Wimbledon. As we had missed out on the brunch earlier, we stumbled across this little crêperie and popped in for a quick bite.

For some reason I was seriously craving tuna, so I went with my gut and chose the tuna, sweetcorn & cheese filling.

When the crêpes came, I thought they looked a little sad with no garnish or colour on the plate (although I'm not sure what I expected from a "fast food" type place), but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised.

It wasn't mind-blowing or anything, but actually it was pretty good for a warm lunch under 5 pounds. It's definitely a nice change from your usual sandwich, and there's a lot of choice for fillings. Our friend later told us he often goes there to grab lunch on work days, since they have very fast service and do take-away, all being quite reasonably priced. Even though it's not the most exciting of places, it's definitely a good choice for when you're on the go.

I wish we had one of those crêpe-making metal slabs at home (like my technical vocab?). Sadly one of the many kitchen appliances that I will have to admire from afar...
