parisian suggestions

16 May 2014

This time next week, we will be in Paris for a few days. E has some work over there, so I decided to snag a cheap Eurostar ticket in advance and tag along for a mini break! After E's work bits are done, we will be having dinner with friends and spending a day doing whatever we please in the city.

I'm no stranger to Paris, having been there a few times with my family and a couple of times since with E, who was actually born there but then moved to the South of France. The last time we were there, it was just a very quick one night stop before heading down South, but he did take me there for my 21st birthday which was wonderful (these photos were taken on that trip....over 5 years ago.)

Even though E knows Paris fairly well and I have ticked off most of the most popular tourist attractions, I am on the hunt for off-the-beaten-path gems in terms of foodie places (restaurants, cafes, patisseries etc.) and good spots for shopping that isn't Galeries Lafayette. Especially for good, every day flat pumps, as mine are starting to die on me and I can't find shoes in the UK small enough for my feet (a UK size 2-2.5)!

I would also love to climb up somewhere high (that isn't the Eiffel Tower) to get a great view for some photos of the city from above, and I am definitely going to be stopping by at one of those big French pharmacies to stock up on skincare, as I am very loyal to La Roche-Posay and Bioderma in particular.

So, if you've been to Paris, live in Paris, or done any research on Paris, please share your suggestions - we will have one full day of complete freedom in the city, and I plan to drag E around to all the best places and impress him with my knowledge. Help a girl out?

  3. I went quite recently (dying to go back though, I love it there!) and we climbed up the Arc De Triomphe - it's obviously quite touristy, but there are amaaazing views at the top and it was great for photos. Have you been to Shakespeare and Co? It's a bookshop on the left bank, definitely worth a visit if you've got time :)

  4. There's a beautiful view of Paris at the top of the department store Printemps! There's a casual restaurant and rooftop deck so you can enjoy the view, it's one of my favorite spots in Paris, especially at sunset (check what time the store closes though because it might be before sunset)!

  5. Sorry I can't help you with Paris, never been there before!

    P.s. For the Running High interviews, a few questions I have to ask you, before I can personalize the interview;
    - How many times do you run each week and how many K's?
    - Outdoor or Indoor? Are you running alone or with others?

  6. Go up Tour Montparnasse! It's a hideous building but a slick lift ride to the top and it has an amazing view of Paris and the Tour Eiffel so well worth it. Have a good time!

  8. It's pretty pricey if I remember rightly, but Le Georges is the restaurant at the top of the Pompidou. The food is nice, the view is outstanding and completely different from the usual Paris views :)

    Looking forward to hearing about your trip!
